How to reset the router?

For many hardware components in computers and networks, rebooting is a way to fix things. The router is also one of those pieces of equipment that sometimes needs to be reset to work normally. There are different reasons why you may want to reset the router, since not everyone is able to fix things normally.

The router allows you to connect to the Internet and sometimes you face problems with the Internet and it becomes difficult to understand the real problem. Sometimes you forget your router password, which is troublesome for anyone. One of the ways to fix these issues is to factory reset your router.

Restoring the router is easy, but there are things that change in factory reset hardware. After a router reboot there are a few things you should be prepared for:

  • Name and password of the new router
  • New username and password for WiFi
  • New ISP username and password
  • Seat portals forward
  • Reset firewall settings.

Basically everything has changed in the router settings as it will be as good as the factory default settings.

This is how the router is reset:

  • On the back of the router, there is a small reset button present on the back of the router. Locate that button.
  • Now use a pin while keeping the router powered on and press the button. You have to press the reset button for a few seconds (10 seconds or so).
  • Depending on the model and type of four Router there will be lights flashing or changing. They may also turn solid, but there will be different activity in the lights after you hold down the reset button.
  • Let go of the reset button now and if you did it right your router will reboot. This makes your router look like new.
